Product Development Manager - Accent Furniture

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Surya is seeking an innovative Accent Furniture Design Manager to join the Product Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of bedding , pillows, throws and poufs. The ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, superb attention to detail and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, results driven environment. This position is based out of our new corporate headquarters just north of Cartersville, GA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive product through its entire development cycle from concept to delivery
  • Create strategies for design creation and implementation of products through cross function team collaboration and stakeholder analysis
  • Manages project budgets and prepares financial analysis reports for top management
  • Establish and align project timelines
  • Sourcing of factories and production facilities
  • Establish pricing guidelines for materials
  • Lead and follow up with vendors on order details and sample designs
  • Prepare design cads and detailed specification sheets for domestic and overseas manufacturers
  • Prepare design and trend presentations for sales team and customers.
  • Ensures that labeling and marketing/promotional literature match product specifications
  • Lead weekly sample review meetings- Prepare product information and analysis for sample review meetings
  • Provide competitor and market analysis
  • Work closely with manufacturers throughout the product development process
  • Travel overseas to work direct with factories
  • Attend market shows and trade fairs at home and abroad

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years proven experience in sourcing factories and production facilities in an overseas environment REQUIRED
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a sourcing/ product development role or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of accent furniture construction and surface techniques
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of the product development process, including sourcing and pricing of raw materials
  • Strong knowledge of the production processes. Including coloring, lab dips, measurement standards, fabrics, trims, and construction methods
  • Experience in communication with a global vendor network.
  • Proficient in CAD ( Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Strong eye for trend and color
  • Highly organized with unparalleled attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Independent and pro-active with strong project management skills
  • Able to take direction and work in a collaborative team environment
  • Advanced product design skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and equivalent Mac programs
  • Sense of urgency, initiative and motivation
  • Ability to prioritize when presented with multiple projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Product Development or similar or related field
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in similar or related field
