Corporate Trainer

The Corporate Trainer will design, develop, and conduct training programs, for employees across the organization, consistent with Surya corporate policies, procedures, and strategies. Special emphasis will be on operational procedures, sales skills, product training, development and implementation of e-learning platforms, customer service, and systems training.


General Responsibilities:

  • Confers with management, supervisors, and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies
  • Design lesson plans and curricula, review training materials and use different training methods based on audience and intended goals. Work within a budget given by human resources or the Surya leadership team
  • Develop, edit and maintain additional learning materials such as manuals, presentations, guides, handouts, videos, e-Learning, job aids, etc. as necessary
  • Utilize demonstration, lectures, team exercises and more to inform employees of goals, protocols and Surya culture, asses the needs of functional departments or individual employees and build training strategies around those needs
  • Develop and implement evaluations and key metrics to determine the effectiveness of training programs, report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
  • Maintain global knowledge of Surya systems as they relate to procedures and work flow
  • Maintain trainee records
  • Travel, approximately 10% to 35% depending on time of year, to field offices and showrooms to train and review corporate initiatives.
  • Association training as required (ASID/AIA)
  • Maintain global knowledge of company systems as they relate to procedures and work flow

Required Skills:

  • 4-7 years’ teaching or corporate training
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite,
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Prior experience in the home décor, or similar industry a PLUS
  • Ability to work flexible hours as business needs may sometimes dictate (during peak seasons)
  • Ability and willingness to travel, about 25%
