Returns Team Lead

The Returns Team Lead assists the Returns Supervisor in ensuring that products returning to Surya receive a thorough inspection and are appropriately reconditioned for resale, and maintains an exceptionally high level of quality control throughout the Returns process.   This position reports directly to the Returns Supervisor and interacts with other Surya departments and is responsible for the quantity and quality of work performed by direct reports.

General Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the entire returns process and staff from the receiving of returns through the inspection process.
  • Ensure all returns are processed accurately and timely, meeting all service levels.
  • Ensure department is ready to receive returns at all times
  • Ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate and all returned goods are properly identified and staged for processing.
  • Ensure all technical Returns systems are working effectively and that all issues are identified, communicated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Train, educate and manage the returns inspection team and process.
  • Manage employee schedules to ensure shift coverage.   Escalate need for staff requirements directly to Returns Supervisor.

Technical Abilities, Tools, Equipment or Other:

  • Experience using Outlook and other Microsoft products
  • Experience in using various computer processing systems
  • Willing to learn and expand current and new computer technologies

Health & Safety:

  • Comply with Surya safety policies and procedures
  • Report hazards and safety matters or unsafe conditions/acts to immediate Team Lead
  • Participate in Safety Committee Meetings, Facility Self Inspections, Accident Investigations and Job Safety Analysis
  • Ensure all injuries are reported to the Team Lead/Manager in a timely manner

Required Skills (Demonstrates the following behaviors and characteristics):

  • Prior experience as a team lead of returns or a similar warehouse process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to accomplish goals
  • Ability to work flexible hours as business needs may sometimes dictate (during peak seasons)
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
