Surya is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Merchandising to drive the vision and strategy for the merchandising function in support of the businesses continued growth and success. This person will develop merchandising strategies that work with the brand, identify new product/category opportunities and manage information across functions and channels to maximize the development of the brand, sales and profits of the company. As a strategic thinker, the right candidate will inspire and mentor a high-performing team to drive impactful product strategies and set the course for growth with our existing and future product categories, while also setting the merchandising direction to ensure a focused continuity on customer sales growth.

Sales Model: To best meet its customer needs, Surya’s sales team is segmented by channel (e.g. retail/design, contract, national accounts, and e-commerce) and service level (inside sales vs. field sales). Sales team members engage in a consultative selling process to sell the full suite of Surya products to their assigned account base. All sales activities are entered and tracked in salesforce.com.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a merchandising leader in a high-growth, B2B company with multiple product categories and channels of distribution. He/She will be a hands-on leader who moves easily from strategic/conceptual to the tactical daily issues. This individual must be exceptionally analytical and data-driven in their approach and will lead market and customer research to gauge viability of new products, brands, categories, and go-to-market strategies.
