The Business Analyst at Surya is a key functional role supporting business growth by developing process improvement solutions while maintaining high standards of quality in a fast-paced environment that has a tremendous impact on the success of the company.
This IT Business Analyst/Project Manager is responsible for taking the lead in translating the operational needs of the business into requirements for implementation as well as the management and coordination of IT projects. This position will manage multiple concurrent projects throughout their full lifecycle, from business analysis through project start up, execution, completion and wrap-up. Elicit system and user requirements using interviews, discussions, and analytics to ensure we are fulfilling the needs of the business.
The Business Analyst will apply the agile development methodology to identifying project scope, eliciting business requirements, and translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications. Candidate will collaborate with key cross-functional stakeholders to complete projects on time and on budget.
Specific responsibilities include:
Identify requirements and issues by interviewing end users and stake holders; analyze operations; determine project scope; develop technical requirement specifications for the Development Team; and document and verify end results.
Analyze the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensure the system design fits the needs of the users.
Analyze and map existing business processes in order to understand and document current procedures and identify areas for improvement.
Conduct change impact analysis to assess the potential implications of changes.
Document business rules, functions, user stories, and requirements.
Plan, organize and conduct business process re-engineering/improvement projects.
Create project plans including resource allocation, and manage projects to completion.
Participate in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality.
When necessary, prepare end users to use the system by conducting training.
Prepare documentation for the support resources on new functionality and supporting material for analysis of issues.
Provide ongoing support for applications (including running ad hoc queries)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
4+ years of experience in leading IT projects, including gathering requirements, scope analysis, and verifying the completion of the project.
Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
An understanding of technology and current trends - the what, why, when, and how of AJAX, HTML5, browsers, firewalls, networks, ERPs, CRMs, etc.
Understand all elements of the software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, quality assurance, release management and deployment.
Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Experience in working in an Agile environment, including working knowledge of the methodology, user stories, and iterative development
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and AML tools such as Jira, TFS, etc.
Education or working knowledge in business analysis.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
Experience with ecommerce, ERP, WMS, and B2B operations is highly desirable.
