Category Manager

We are looking for a Category Manager to manage a group or category of products for our company. You will be responsible for the product strategy, financial planning and final selection for the assigned merchandise assortment.

Overall Scope of Position:

  • Analyzing data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
  • Devising long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Planning and developing merchandising strategies
  • Analyzing sales figures, customers reactions and market trends to anticipate product needs
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to manage information across functions and channels to maximize Brand Development and the sales and profits of the company


  • Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Plan and develop merchandising strategies that balance customers’ expectations and company’s objectives
  • Plan assortments based on analysis of sales results and industry trend data to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands
  • Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility
  • Partner with Sales Teams to determine the specific and actionable customer needs and requests of assigned product category
  • Collaborate with Product Development to expand and refine product categories
  • Collaborate with Purchasing for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory and to develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category



  • Proven experience as Category Manager, Buyer/Assistant Buyer or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of merchandising, category management, marketing and sales principles
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision making skills
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to “decode” customers
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
